Entry time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Judging: 12:15 p.m.
3 bars per category on a small paper plate. Recipe with exhibitor's name (and age if 17 & under) on back of the recipe. Limit one entry per category per exhibitor.
Category A: Baked Bars (Adults 18 & over)
Category B: Unbaked Bars (Adults 18 & over)
Category C: Baked Bars (Youth 17 & under)
Category D: Unbaked Bars (Youth 17 & under)
Prizes: 1st: $10.00; 2nd: $8.00; 3rd: $6.00

Baked and/or Non-baked Bar Guidelines:
No mixes

• Each entry should consist of 3 bars (approx. 1½″×2½″ each) on a small paper plate, covered by clear plastic or clear plastic bag.
• Entries to be judged on appearance and taste by a panel of judges.
• Recipes for entry must be made available to the culinary superintendents and to the sponsor at the time of entry.
• Contest open to any amateur baker, male or female, or senior citizen.
• Limit of one entry per exhibitor per category.
• Entries to be entered and in place in the Agriculture Building.
• Prizes will be awarded at the completion of judging.

Recipe Rules:

• Submit recipe, neatly typed or printed, on a card or paper, one side only.
• Name of recipe first.
• List all ingredients in specific amounts.
• Give method, including bowl/pan size, oven temperature, and baking time.
• Include name, address, and daytime phone number.
• Bring copy of recipe along with the entry.

Cookie Jar Contest:

Bring 12 homemade cookies in a quart jar. Require the recipe and your name (and age for youth division) listed on the back side of the recipe. Limit one entry per category per exhibitor.

Flower Arranging Contest:

Approximately 3:30 p.m.

Adults only

• Limited to 10 contestants. Contestants should arrive 15 minutes before start time to check in and hold their spot.
• Fair will provide flowers & vases. Individuals will be given a short time frame to create an arrangement using only the provided materials. Contestants may take their arrangement home.
• Flowers and prize money have been donated by Carver County Horticultural Society.
• Judging will be done by fairgoers voting for their favorite arrangement.

Top five arrangement premiums: 1st: $25.00; 2nd: $20.00; 3rd: $15.00; 4th: $10.00; 5th: $5.00

Rooster Crowing Contest:

2017 Carver County Sheriff’s Office Coin Hunt:

Find the hidden coin at the Fair to win an Annual Carver County Parks Vehicle Permit!

Clues will be posted two times daily during the Carver County Fair on the Carver County Sheriff’s Office Facebook and Twitter pages and will lead you to a specific location. The websites are public—you do not need to sign up. The ten clue locations given will lead to the location of the hidden coin.

If the coin is found early, continue to play the daily clues for prizes until the end of the Fair! There will be a limited number of daily clue prizes, so once you find the answer for a clue head to the public safety building to collect a prize from the deputy at the booth!

The coin, clues etc. are NOT buried, so please do not damage fairground property. There is no climbing necessary.

Follow the notification instructions included with the coin if you believe you have found it.

Carver County Sheriff’s Office employees and their immediate families are not eligible to participate.

Military Service Recognition March – Friday, August 10

For all persons who have served in the U.S. Military, Auxiliary, Boy & Girl Scouts. We encourage marchers to bring and carry American Flags.

1:30 PM – Line up at Bayview Elementary parking lot on south side of building. The Fair will provide a wagon ride for veterans unable to march to fairgrounds.

2:00 PM – March into Fairgrounds.

2:30 PM – Veterans Program in the Entertainment Center

High-flying, fast paced dirt bike and atv racing is coming to Waconia! You'll see racers jump 70-ft triples, navigate bermed corners and pound thru the whoops. Local racers are invited to sign up – as young as 4 years old and as old as 50. Pit gates and sign-up will open at 3:00 PM, practice will start at 6:00 PM (for race entrants only), and the racing will start at 7:00 PM.

A Supercross Race contains 23 different classes, 5 atv classes and 18 dirt bike classes. The program consists of a Heat Race and a Main Event, and every person that signs up will race twice. The Heat Race determines what gate pick the rider gets for the Main Event; and the Main Event will determine what trophy the rider gets. There will also be an intermission race for Pit Bikes. Log Roll with Carver County Parks!

Get in touch with your inner lumberjack! Hop on the log and try for yourself or enjoy watching your friends & family learn! Carver County Parks instructors will demonstrate log rolling technique and provide instruction while you roll. Log Rolling combines Minnesota Northwoods traditions and modern water sports, providing great benefits for your balance, core strength and aerobic abilities!

Ages 5+. Waiver required for each participant; parents must sign for minors.

Art in Motion: Parkour & Dance Jam

The parkour portion of tonight's Art in Motion event has been cancelled due to unsafe conditions after today's rain. Livewire DJ will still be in the Show Tent from 7–10pm!

New this year! Demonstrations and audience participation in parkour and breakdancing + DJ-inspired dancing/fun. Led by Laketown Gymnastics. Parkour participation will require a release form.

Ever wonder how they make the fancy roses or add the decorations to your party cake? Well, here is your chance to come watch and enjoy as Mackenthun’s demonstrates decorating cakes. They'll show you how to take a 9×13 cake and make it a masterpiece. Who knows, after some practice maybe you can enter your cake at the fair next year!

All you want to know about bees! From raising bees, to producing honey, caring for the bee cones, attracting bees to your yard for pollinating and more. We have Dan (The Honey Bee Man) and Dawn (Watertown Floral) that will be available to answer your questions and show off Dan’s bee cones. Taste samples will be available after the presentation.
