Join us in the Entertainment Center as we honor the Carver County Senior Citizens who have shown their outstanding commitment to community service since reaching the age of 65.

All nominees will be recognized and winners announced at the Carver County Fair in the Entertainment Center, on the day and time listed above.

2014: Ken Jacobs

Ken Jacobs was awarded Carver County’s Outstanding Senior Citizen for 2014. Ken was nominated by Judy Niesen. Ken will receive a special certificate of commendation from the Governor and his name will be submitted to the Minnesota Board on Aging for the Minnesota State selection process for the Outstanding Senior Citizens. Some of Ken’s contributions to the community include:
  • Knights of Columbus
    • 40 years of service and has held most offices
    • Has been Grand Knight twice and State Knight of the Year in 1998
    • Helps out with many functions such as breakfasts, fish fries, etc
  • Catholic United Financial
    • President for ~10 years
    • Helps out with many benefits such as pancake breakfasts on Nickle Dickle Day
  • Waconia VFW
    • Currently Chaplin
    • Commander for 2 years
    • Helps with meat raffles and steak fries
    • Calls for honor guards for deceased members and helps organize the honor guard for Memorial Day and walk of flags at nursing home
  • St Joe’s Church, Waconia
    • Usher for over 25 years
  • Carver County Veteran’s Van
    • Drove for over 8 years
    • Helped raise funds for new Veteran’s Van
